If you are not found on the web, do you exist? Everyone jumps on the web and uses Google to find just about everything…and if you are not there, you are not going to get their business. You are virtually invisible. Many business owners are not aware of the fact that there are sites they can sign up for which are free and get excellent search engine results which provide a digital footprint to not only provide information about the company and its products and services, but credibility as a business, as well.
I am currently working with a local Kona business owner who needed web presence help for her business, Hawaii Coffee Connection. I am working with her on getting set up on some of the main social recommendation sites that will give her some Google juice for free AND I am helping her use social media to promote her holiday gift packages and discounts. She has a limited budget, so we are focusing on Yelp right now.
Yelp-Free and gives you a chance to put all the pertinent info about your business AND provides an excellent way for your customers and clients to give you recommendations.
For any of my Kona, Hawaii readers, a recent guest I spoke to said he had pork chops at the Manago Hotel. That is sooooo far off the beaten path, I was surprised he found that local favorite. He used Yelp and did a search query on affordable food with high scores and lots of comments. Manago has over 300 Yelp reviews! It was a no-brainer for him to go there and find out what everyone was talking about..for alot less than any of the main eateries..and he loved it. Point made.
Get an account for free and start asking people to give you recommendations there. A friend of mine has a written journal of all the nice things her customers have said about her and her business. I told her that those books in her hand were not searchable within Google. She needs to have an avenue for happy and passionate customers to sing her praises on line..not in a book with a pen..sorry, those days are over if you want to optimize good comments.
